House Democrats chose Representative Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland as their majority leader today after a bruising fight that cast a cloud over the party’s post-election celebration. The election of Mr. Hoyer over Representative John P. Murtha of Pennsylvania, by a vote of 149 to 86, was an embarrassing setback for Speaker-elect Pelosi.
Murtha doesn’t look very happy:

I’ve gotta hand it to them. Maybe the Dems are serious about this “culture of corruption” shtick.
The acid test will be whether Jane Harmon heads the Intelligence Committee in spite of the acrimony between Pelosi and Harmon, or we get an ex-judge impeached for bribery as the committee chair.
Too bad. I was rooting for “Cut-and-Run” Murtha. I like my choices stark and unambiguous.
Does Murtha always look that unhappy?
