From Ynet News:
Reuters has withdrawn a second photograph and admitted that the image was doctored, following the emergence of new suspicions against images provided by the news organization. The latest image to face doubts is a photograph of an Israeli F-16 fighter jet over the skies of Lebanon, seen in the image firing off “missiles during an air strike on Nabatiyeh,” according to the image’s accompanying text provided by Reuters.
For the details, see My Pet Jawa. Congratulations to Rusty Shackleford for exposing another of Adnan Hajj’s fakes.
Reuters has now recalled all of Hajj’s photos:
Reuters withdrew all 920 photographs by a freelance Lebanese photographer from its database on Monday after an urgent review of his work showed he had altered two images from the conflict between Israel and the armed group Hizbollah. Global Picture Editor Tom Szlukovenyi called the measure precautionary but said the fact that two of the images by photographer Adnan Hajj had been manipulated undermined trust in his entire body of work.
The two altered photographs were among 43 that Hajj filed directly to the Reuters Global Pictures Desk since the start of the conflict on July 12 rather than through an editor in Beirut, as was the case with the great majority of his images.
Hmmm, al Reuters describes these instances as an “inconvenience,” well, they certainly are that. And a good deal more. People were inconvenienced by 9/11, by Pearl Harbor, in Transylvania people were inconvenienced by Vlad the Impaler, the prototype for Count Dracula. Yes, those are exaggerations and not strictly or directly analogous, but to describe the dissemination of these photos merely as “inconveniences” is not
is not … terribly informative or descriptive.
Apropos of “inconvience”, Michael B: the Iranian suggestion of solving all problems in the Middle East by wiping Israel off the map was “unhelpful“.
this could have been a good post without dragging the qana massacre into it. that’s like bringing up a holocaust denial when some random jew gets arrested or somethig
ZY, yes, rather hilarious. I suspect Blair, in full bore diplomatic mode in such cases, nonetheless knowingly smiles at himself, having to use such ironic language, to put it in generous terms indeed. (Of course the difference, with al Reuters, is that al Reuters doesn’t comprehend the telling irony, in their case they actually are attempting to save face with a straight face.)
Just saw Ellis Hannikan (sp)of Newsday on FOX telling us that the Reuters thing was a “mistake”. Ha-ha-ha… Don’t you ever “make a mistake”?
There is no dealing with the left on this or any other issue. We are either stupid, bigots, racists or, they “made a mistake”.
ReutersGate/3
